Thanks to the support of the University of Bonn Foundation, I have attended the first German Robotics Conference in Nuremberg, from March 13th to 15th, 2025. It is a flagship conference of the Robotics Institute Germany.
The three-day conference was filled with interesting presentations, company exhibitions, keynote talks, and poster sessions across a variety of topics, including mobile robot localization and mapping, planning and control, computer vision, legged-robot, agriculture robot, human-robot interaction, and so on.
During the conference, I gave a poster presentation of my paper "DogLegs: Robust Proprioceptive State Estimation for Legged Robots Using Multiple Leg-Mounted IMUs". This paper is part of my PhD research at the Center for Robotics and Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformation in the University of Bonn. In this study, we proposed to use multiple low-cost inertial sensors to improve the accuracy and robustness of the proprioceptive egomotion estimation of the legged robots across different terrains.
Joining the conference has not only provided me an opportunity to share my recent research findings to the community, but also has let me communicate ideas with researchers and experts from Germany. I have also enjoyed the social activities after the conference where I have met lots of old friends and made many new friends.
In conclusion, it was an amazing experience in GRC 2025. I feel very lucky to be in Nuremberg to see the most cutting-edge technologies and research in the robotics field which has significantly broaded my horizons. In addition, it has allowed me to connect with many experts in my field around the country which is very helpful for my career. Thanks very much to the financial support from the University of Bonn Foundation!
